Columns: A Message From Quado: Loans Not Repaid
|
by Carrie Hart and Quado
A reader asks:
A year ago I loaned money to a now ex-boyfriend. He said that he would pay me back promptly, but a year has passed and he has yet to return the money to me. I also loaned money to a friend several months ago and although he has paid back almost half of the loan, it has been like pulling teeth to get the money. I don't want either of these people in my life anymore, yet I just can't seem to let it go that they owe me this money. I keep feeling like I can't be at peace with the ending of these relationships until everything is back in balance with no one owing anyone anything. Should I keep pursuing the repayment of these loans or just chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned?
Quado responds:
When you have an agreement with someone and they do not live up to it, it feels very much like a betrayal.

Be Your Best Self ... Now!
|
by Dr. Joan Marques
Funny how our look at life changes as we mature: When I grew up my mother, bless her heart, always taught me to keep some things in store for special days: a few dresses that were not supposed to be worn unless there was a really special reason for it; that delicate lingerie that was supposed to be kept for some incredible future occasion, those towels that were to be reserved for an extraordinary event, the silverware that was not to be taken out unless there were very important guests visiting, and most of all: your overall appearance. Because you wanted to look smashing at that particular social event.
Unfortunately, some of those special events never came, and I found that the most precious dresses were never worn: I just grew out of them and had to bequeath them with a sore heart to someone else without having enjoyed them?¢â?¬?¦ever! And all those other treasures were also growing sour in their safe locked-up places waiting for a special day that never arrived...

Columns: Personal Excellence: In Praise of Rebellion-10 Steps to Supercharge YOUR Life
|
by Dr. Jill Ammon Wexler
Are you totally happy with life as it is? How about
with yourself? If you are anything less than TOTALLY
satisfied with your own status quo -- I encourage open and wild rebellion!
STOP accepting your limitations. The probability is
they don't even belong to you, anyway.
Well maybe your Mom was somewhat right when she told you to "stop acting like an idiot" when you tried to act like her at age five. But does that mean you can't
act today? That you don't "have it" -- whatever "it"
is!

Fifteen Healthy Reasons for Taking a Vacation
|
by Etienne A. Gibbs
Going away on a vacation brings numerous benefits. It refreshes our enthusiasm, helps us to know ourselves a little better, and makes us, upon our return home, happier, healthier, and much more effective in coping with stress. The key to reaping the benefits of traveling is in the going away. Hardly anyone reaps a benefit from spending a vacation time at home to work around the house.
Want a reason or two to go away on vacation? Here are fifteen:

TODAY'S EMPOWERING QUESTION
What would (name of a successful person) think about this? What would they do in this situation? Then why don't I do that?
|
by Skye Thomas
Deep down, we haven?¢â?¬â?¢t evolved as much as we would like to believe. Like the caveman, we still want to curl up next to someone during the dark of night so that we aren?¢â?¬â?¢t so alone in the cold survival game. We want to feel safe, warm, and loved inside and out. It?¢â?¬â?¢s hardwired into our brains.
We travel in packs and we care for our young for a very long time. We need a mate to travel with, someone to love, someone to cheer when we win the battles against vicious animals, someone to guard the cave when we need to lick our wounds from the battles we lost. It?¢â?¬â?¢s not about being needy or codependent, it?¢â?¬â?¢s about a need for connection, partnership, usefulness, and co-creation. It?¢â?¬â?¢s the way humans were designed.

Shambhala: A Journey of Passion
|
by Rev. Jenine Marie McCune
I walked softly, into the beautiful space of love, light and energy. It was so familiar, so energizing and so filled with universal passion. "What is this spot"?, I wondered, as I stepped intimately into my flowing white gown that began to blow enticingly in the wind. It is a "holy?¢â?¬? place. Not a religious place, but holy. It is all things and nothing all at once. It is a place of being and a place of becoming. I knew that I would and could become all that I desired.
I watched closely as the waves of the ocean tide soothed my soul as the sunset graciously in the west. "I am warm, protected and alive", I thought. I dug my feet deeply into the sand and felt the warm inviting energy of mother earth in all her glory. She spoke to me in a language that I now know I remember. It is her "love" story and the breath of life came into my being through the sky. I had it all at this moment, at this place, in the realm of peace and new understanding. Here, I thought, I can fly. I can allow a fire to ignite what has been waiting for me for many many eons. This is a moment of destiny. This is the beginning of Shambhala......

Columns: A Message From Quado: Accidents
|
by Carrie Hart and Quado
A reader asks:
In 2 years I have been in 2 auto accidents, neither my fault. Then I fell off a kitchen chair, and broke 2 bones in my right foot. Yesterday I accidentally hit the cat tree as I was walking by and ended up breaking my toe on the left foot. What is going on? I love my job, but due to reorganization, I have to apply for the job to keep it. I want to put my best foot forward (no pun intended) for the interview and it seems the accidents are trying to keep me from the job. What can I do to stop all these accidents?
Quado responds:
There are times when you are not within the flow of life, when you are bumping up against it.
